This "sun space"
addition serves the dual purpose of expanding the family's living space and
of collecting excess morning solar gain to be distributed to the remainder of
the house in the afternoon. The
addition incorporates an existing flat roofed porch adjoining the living room
and kitchen of the client's Victorian home.
The design utilizes one of the original porch screen walls and extends
the interior past this framework to face a formal flower garden. Care was taken in the detailing of the materials to integrate
the addition with the historic character of the house.
