This conversion of a turn of
the century carriage house restored the exterior of the existing building
while developing a wholly new set of rooms within. The design respected the original
configuration of spaces by placing the large, open living and dining areas on
the ground floor and tucking the bedroom and private spaces underneath
individual roof dormers on the upper floor.
Skylights and large windows were introduced on the upper floor to
bring light into these rooms, and care was taken to integrate all new
construction with the existing building while revealing its new use as the
family's home. |
