The Joslin House Complex is a group of
five buildings in the downtown area of Webster, Massachusetts which was targeted
as a potential site for housing rehabilitation in a feasibility study
performed by
Thomas Mayo Associates for the Webster Office of Community Development. The final
program consisted of twenty-seven apartment units for the elderly and
handicapped, community facilities and integration of existing commercial
space use. A focus for the project is
the central courtyard with its seating areas, landscaping, and direct access
to Main Street. The courtyard is
further developed in the use of a covered walkway and porch which wraps the
main facade leading to the main entry and a pedestrian bridge which links the
main housing clusters with each other and the resident community spaces. |
