Thomas Mayo Associates, with Urban Planning Consultants, Inc. acting as development
consultants, were retained by the Business and Industrial Commission of North
Attleborough to prepare an overall plan for the revitalization of the central
business district. The planning study
undertaken involved an initial context analysis; including mapping of
existing land use, traffic and parking patterns, pedestrian activities,
visual and physical characteristics, and identification of key buildings for
potential rehabilitation. The study
program also encompasses a market assessment, urban design analysis, and
identification of public and private development options; and in addition
includes preparation of a Community Development Block Grant application. The plan will serve as the catalyst for
cooperative efforts of public and private sectors to reverse the physical
deterioration and disinvestment experienced by the downtown area over the
past ten years. |
